Shree Shivaji Junior College of Education was established in 1958 as a constituent institution of the Shri Shivaji Education Society. Its basic objective is to give quality teacher education to students from rural areas.

The College is a Government-aided Institution, managed by a Registered Trust, and functions as an independent institution offering only Teacher Education programmes on a Co-Education basis. Its affiliation status is Permanent.

Situated near Panchwati Square in Amravati, the campus is accessible in all weather through a pucca road, with Amravati railway station the nearest railhead.
